The sound of laughter and joviality reverberated through the air as the worldwide laughter community celebrated World Laughter Day on May 2, 2010 amidst much fanfare and delight. The day conceived by Laughter Yoga founder Dr. Madan Kataria has today become a universal event to promote world peace, good health and joy.
“Laughter is a common language that connects the world and is a panacea for all ills and negativity in this stress ridden modern world,” says Kataria. “The day is all about how to bring the world together through laughter and is intended to build a global consciousness of friendship,” he adds.
Celebrating the day in Mumbai, Dr. Kataria and his wife Madhuri were at Joggers's park Laughter Club, Bandra West where they were joined by several local laughter club members in the peace rally and revelry. People laughed together and carried message placards of love, friendship and laughter as they went in a procession chanting the magic mantra “ho ho ha ha ha”. Laughter clubs around the world also kept up the tradition of gathering and laughing collectively to pray for world peace and brotherhood.
