World Laughter Day

World Laughter Day 2010 was celebrated in New York City with The Levity Project coordinating laughter events on the subways. People gathered to laugh in Union Square, on the subway trains, into the Main Concourse of the Grand Central Station and on the subways to Times Square (incidentally right where the car bomb had been found the night before). It was a powerful event to bring laughter and joy into the space as a global celebration for world peace.

The laughter trains ended in Times Square, where Laughter Yoga leaders led a large group of people laughing from Times Square to the United Nations.

The response from the crowds was very positive. Many people joined in, laughed and smiled along with us.

The Levity Project is a social movement creating change through public acts of play, laughter, and celebration. The mission of The Levity Project is to help decrease the spirit of negativity, stress, and fatigue in our society by infusing public spaces with a lighter and more buoyant energy.

The Levity Project is a movement that encourages everyone who participates and observes the events to see themselves as an agent of change in our world. Our goal is to create a global community in which people come together to create an upward spiral of global positive social change.
